CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Some of you cashed in big last week, during our Live 5 Claim Your Cash Phone Bank!
In all, our phone bank helped the South Carolina State Treasurer’s Office reach hundreds of people, who are owed more than $800,000.
Staff members from the State Treasurer’s Office were busy on the phones last Thursday afternoon, searching for unclaimed cash for you. And boy did they find it. Take a look at the numbers.
During the phone bank, someone from North Charleston called in and learned about $5,350 in unclaimed cash.
The phone lines were very busy, so many of you searched online instead.
Through online searches, there were three big individual claims. The biggest was in Yemassee for $17,522. In Summerville someone had $7,100. And in Georgetown, an online search turned up $6,645 for one person.
The State Treasurer’s Office says our phone bank, sent lots of people in search of unclaimed property. So from 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7 when our phone lines opened, through 8 a.m. today, the State Treasurer’s Office confirmed 1,525 claims, totaling more than $844,767 in unclaimed cash.
