COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A former Colleton County high school teacher educator’s license has been permanently revoked after a vote by the South Carolina Board of Education.

Robert Eugene Valbert III educator’s certificate was permanently revoked after sexual conduct charges. The state’s board of education voted on Valbert’s teaching certificate on March 12 and made their decision after evidence was presented.

The State Board of Education documents reported Valbert was accused of fondling a boy under the pretense of performing a medical exam.

The report also states the first alleged incident happened in 2016 and another in 2018. It’s not clear if it’s the same victim or where the incidents happened.

According to state documents, the state board summarily suspended Valbert’s education license while the charges were still pending.

The board says Valbert has not responded to the notice letters from the South Carolina Department of Education and has not requested a hearing.
