More sunshine is on the map for Thursday as high pressure is once again overhead. Some high clouds from Earl may brush the coastline today but that will be it. Other than a few cumulus clouds around, sun will warm us back into the mid 90. There is a high surf advisory in effect. Breakers could top 7-12 feet with long period swells leading to dangerous and very strong rip currents. STAY OUT OF THE WATER if you plan on heading to the beaches today. Tonight, a few clouds from Earl may pass overhead but other than that, just look for clear and mild weather, lows in the upper 60s. Friday will be very hot as winds turn west. Temps on Friday will be in the upper 90s to near 100 in some places. Your Labor Day weekend looks great around here with plenty of sun and mild temps in the upper 80s.
TROPICS: Hurricane Earl is a strong Category 4 hurricane this morning but does show some signs of weakening as it heads toward the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Tropical Storm Fiona has turned north into the open Atlantic and is no threat at this time. Tropical Storm Gaston is slowly moving westward in the Eastern Atlantic and will be monitored over the next week or so. Several strong tropical waves are coming off the African coast today and over the weekend and are all expected to develop. Be sure you check the Hurricane Center often to get the latest forecast.
