CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - On a surveillance video taken June 12 at the CVS on George Street, 28 year old Kate Waring can be clearly seen. A few hours later she would disappear and not be heard from again.
"It's been 50 days since we last heard from Kate. It is time to bring her home," said family friend Andy Savage.
Kate's friends and supporters gathered outside St. Michael's Church Monday morning, where she worships. Private investigators tracked her movements prior to her disappearance. That afternoon she went to her doctor, then to the gym. At 8pm she went to the CVS Pharmacy. Waring had dinner with friends at Wasabi on State Street from 9-11:30 p.m. She was apparently dropped off at home by some friends, but "there's no report from her family or neighbors that she actually got home that night."
Kate's friends describe her as headstrong, smart and beautiful. She called friend Jason Luck the night she vanished. "10:06 p.m., I will never forget it," Luck recalled. "Looked down at my phone, saw who called, didn't answer it. Didn't even listen to the voice mail until the next day."
There is no record of Waring using her credit cards or cell phone after her disappearance. Police say three days after she was reported missing, one of Kate's acquaintances tried to cash one of her personal checks for $4,500 at a bank.
Her friends are trying to remain hopeful. "The minute we lose hope, there really is no chance at all we'll ever see her again."
The $25,000 reward is being offered for information that helps find Kate Waring. It is not for an arrest. For now, Charleston Police are treating her disappearance as a missing persons case.
If you can help, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. You don't have to give your name to get the reward.
