TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A Timmonsville woman was charged Friday for allegedly using cocaine while she was pregnant.

Melissa Lee Dale, 29, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child. The Florence County Sheriff's Office says she put her unborn child an unreasonable risk of harm by using drugs while she was pregnant. Investigators say her infant tested positive for cocaine at birth.

Dale is in custody at the Florence County Detention Center. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine at the discretion of the court.
