CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - One local group is working hard to keep your kids safe, and not out of sight. Volunteers with the Lowcountry Orphan Relief went to local businesses in the Charleston County area giving out child fingerprint identification kits.
Kids were fingerprinted, measured and given a card to fill out with identifying information, like scars, birthmarks, and moles. The workers say that these kits are one of the best ways for parents to get separated children back.
"You have an immediate piece of information that you can just hand off to the police and they have all the information they need to help locate your child more effectively," Jessica Connick said.
The group asked for donations from parents, but still gave out kits to all who visited. Along with ID cards, kids got a free gift from a local police officer.
