ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - A former South Carolina House member is returning to the Legislature.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports Republican Ralph Norman of Rock Hill won a special election Tuesday for the seat he gave up in 2006 to run for Congress.
Unofficial election results show the real estate developer easily defeated Democrat Kathy Cantrell with 72 percent of the vote.
The conservative York County district just south of Charlotte, N.C., includes the Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Lake Wylie communities.
Norman will fill the remaining second term of the man who replaced him, GOP Rep. Carl Gullick. Gullick resigned in July to move to Kentucky because of his wife's job.
Norman held the seat for one term before his unsuccessful bid to unseat U.S. Rep. John Spratt.
