SC Aquarium honoring Al Gore on anniversary

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year by honoring former Vice President Al Gore.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday that Gore will be honored with the aquarium's Legacy Award during a celebration next April.

A book by the 61-year-old Gore, "An Inconvenient Truth" was made into a documentary that won two Academy Awards in 2007. That's the same year Gore shared a Nobel Peace Prize.

Gore served under President Bill Clinton and had led early congressional efforts to fight global warming.
