ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The two write-in candidates who appeared to win seats on the Atlantic Beach Town Council last month are appealing a decision by the town's election board to overturn the results.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that Windy Price and Carolyn Cole jointly filed their appeal Monday.
That appeal will at least delay the new election in the South Carolina beach town ordered by the election board last month.
Price and Cole beat incumbents Josephine Isom and Charlene Taylor, who challenged the results based on the winners' residency, problems with absentee ballots and other irregularities.
Price received 64 votes, while Cole got 52 votes. Taylor finished third with 43 votes and Isom received 35 votes.
