RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Two Death Row Inmates at the Lieber Correctional Institute in Ridgeville stabbed a prison guard with a makeshift weapon, said police.
Prison Officials say 30-year-old Quincy Allen and 26-year-old Mikal Mahdi attacked the officer in an outside fenced area around 9 am Wednesday. The officer is being treated at MUSC with non-life-threatening injuries.
Allen and Quincy were placed specially managed cells that are separated from the regular prison population.
In 2002, Allen killed four people during a crime spree that started in North Carolina and ended in Columbia, SC. Mahdi is on death row for killing an Orangeburg Public Safety Captain in Calhoun County in 2004.
