BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Census Bureau is opening another office in South Carolina in preparation for next year's national count.
Officials say an office in Beaufort opens Friday.
More than 2,000 census workers began fanning out across the state in April to get a complete list of addresses where 2010 census questionnaires will be sent.
The nationwide count used to determine congressional seats and federal funding will be taken next spring.
Offices in Anderson, Florence and Greenville are expected to open next week. Charleston and Columbia census offices opened more than a year ago. Officials say they plan to launch several more in South Carolina early next year.
