GADSDEN, SC (WCSC) - A Gadsden man was convicted of mail fraud and sentenced to two years in prison and to pay restitution for the deed, the US Attorney's office said Monday.
Otis J. Goodwin, Jr., 32, pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud. According to the indictment, between June 2006 and November 2007, Goodwin and his co-defendant Wendy Constance Evans, 45, opened checking accounts at a credit union usen stolen personal information.
The duo allegedly opened the accounts to receive and pass checks in the community.
Evans pleaded guilty to mail fraud in December, 2008 and sentenced in October of last year.
