HOLLY HILL, SC (WCSC) - A group of Holly Hill neighbors gathered on the side of the road Thursday evening with heavy hearts.
"They are a well known couple in the neighborhood, they will be missed," said Tawanna Evans.
Leroy and Martha Shingler are dead after an accident on Highway 15 in Holly Hill.
According to the authorities the car ran off the road and landed in the woods.
In the early evening, some 10 hours later, there wasn't any wreckage left behind.
What you did notice was an ominous sign - the owner's manual for a 2009 Toyota Camry.
The 2009 Camry is included in Toyota's floor mat recall and certain models are included in the sticking accelerator recall.
Tonight there were rumors that representatives from Toyota would soon travel to Holly Hill to investigate.
Live 5 got in contact with Toyota about the crash and they issued this statement:
"At this time Toyota will have no comment until a thorough investigation has been completed."
Meanwhile friends and family of the victims continued to mourn.
"I'm feeling hurt. I can't explain it. This was like a sister, family, a best friend, a close friend," said Minnie Singleton.
Sources close to the investigation say in 20 years they have never seen law enforcement handle a vehicle with such care after a wreck.
Live 5 has been told no one was allowed to touch it without gloves and instructions were to be very careful.
It remains to be seen if the Shingler's will be added to the list of victims of faulty Toyota parts.
Thursday night the family mourns the loss of a popular couple.
"We want to say to everybody just keep praying for the family," said Diana Waring.
