SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police say vandals apparently used BB guns to shoot out car windows in six neighborhoods. A total of 31 cars have been vandalized since March 5, said investigators.

Geraldine Miller had to pay to have her window fixed right away because she uses her vehicle for her business. "Pretty pissed off, yeah, yeah," said Miller. "We all have a lot of out-of-town expenses and we got to wake up to a big mess."

Investigators say the vandals hit six neighborhoods; Newington Plantation, Corey Woods, Pine Forest, Arbor Oaks, Quail Arbor Cove and Fairway Villas.

Police say they apparently are randomly picking vehicles to shoot.

For resident Sean Harrel, it couldn't have come at a worse time. "I was actually in shock because I was out of town. My wife just had surgery, my mom had what appeared to be stroke, then this all in the same day," said Harrel.

John Owens' car window also was shot up. He was all fired up after seeing the damage. "How can someone so stupid, do something like that?" said Owens. "Good thing I have insurance to cover it."

Police say it's possible the same suspects may be responsible for all 31 cases of vandalism. "That's just way too many people, and frankly somebody that does that much damage, what kind of drugs are they on," said Miller.

Investigators say nothing was taken from any of the cars that were vandalized. Officers recovered BB's from some of the crime scenes.
