Customs and border protection officer could face jail time

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A customs and border protection officer was arrested for accessing federal databases without permission.

Authorities say Michael Bell accessed federal agency databases without authorized access and permission. According to authorities, Bell got information related to friends, neighbors and family members from the database.

Bell is from Charleston County and worked at the port. He could face a $250,000 fine and spend a year in prison.
