CINCINNATI, OH (WCSC) - North Charleston native and Fort Dorchester graduate Carlos Dunlap signed with the Cincinnati Bengals Wednesday.
Cincinnati.com is reporting Dunlap and the Bengals agreed to a four-year deal. The team has not yet announced the financial terms of the deal.
Dunlap slipped out of the first round draft after a DUI charge in Florida's postseason that kept the defensive end out of the Gators' SEC Championship game. In his final year at Florida, Dunlap recorded 34 tackles and 9 sacks and was a first-team All-SEC selection. He ended his collegiate career with 77 tackles 19 sacks and three blocked kicks.
Dunlap decided to forego his senior year as a Gator to enter the NFL draft.
The Bengals also signed Jordan Shipley, from Texas, in the third round.
"It's great to have these two guys with us as we start training camp," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "They are high selections and we're looking for big things from both of them."
Bengals players reported Wednesday to training camp at Georgetown College in Kentucky. The first practice is scheduled for 9 a.m Thursday.
