SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A race through a neighborhood, a home improvement store and an ice cream shop didn't prevent Summerville police from capturing one armed robbery suspect and identifying a second.

Summerville police said Demorick Kortey Green, 20, and David Anthony Kelly, 20, held up a man just moving into his Farmington Village apartment. The men pulled out a small-caliber handgun and demanded the victim's wallet, he told police. Green and Kelly took the $220 from the victim's wallet and ran from the scene.

Officers saw Kelly and Green running out of the neighborhood and into a home improvement store on North Main Street. The officers gave pursuit and was able to trap Kelly, who had tried to take refuge under a truck parked in a nearby lot. A witness told the officers Kelly was hiding under the truck.

The officers who arrested Kelly did not see what direction Green had fled, but a witness at the Ye Olde Fashioned ice cream shop told police a man was hiding behind a dumpster there and a woman driving a white Lincoln Navigator had picked him up. The witness told police the SUV headed south on Highway 17A.

Dorchester County Sheriff's deputies located the SUV on Highway 78 near Harleyville and conducted a traffic stop. The driver and two passengers noted by the witness at the ice cream shop were identified as Teneesha Lashawn Elmore, 20, Crystal Darlene Tindal, 21, and Deangelo Williams, 20. The three were detained and taken back to Summerville for questioning.

None of the occupants of the SUV or Kelly would identify Green. However, Elmore and Tindal admitted to picking up Green and taking him to Harleyville, but said they did not know he was a suspect in an armed robbery. Williams was detained pending other charges.

Officers later determined the second suspect was Green.

Officers found the gun in the bushes beside a pizza shop.
