Dave Cooney is an Emmy award winning sports anchor for KOLD. After spending two years covering sports and news in Southern Nevada, he arrived in Tucson in 2007. Here's Cooney's take on the Old Pueblo… and life.
"Once I realized I couldn't make a living playing on the field, I was able to find the next best thing. I've stood inches away from some of my most vivid sports memories. I was on the sideline at Super Bowl XLII when the Giants upset the Patriots; I was in Lute Olson's backyard when he revealed the reason he left basketball, and watched as Tiger Woods sunk the winning put at the Accenture Match Play Championship in 2008.
I like to keep things simple. I like my steak well done. I like convertibles. I like Miller Light, not Bud Light, and there is nowhere I would rather be on a Saturday than the "Shoe." Yeah, I'm a Buckeye.
I'm a true believer in taking risks to spark opportunity. To get what you want out of life, I think you have to be willing to roll the dice from time to time.
Dave is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and attended THE Ohio State University. He has an English Bulldog named Chopper.
Dave Cooney is the 2012 and 2011 winner of the Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for Best Sports Anchor.
