Henry BrownCHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Congressman Henry Brown (R- SC) leads challenger Linda Ketner, a Democrat, by five points in a poll of likely voters in next week's US House District 1 race.
The survey of 600 likely voters was taken by Live5 News/Survey USA on October 25 and 26.
Brown wins the support of 50 percent of those polled, Ketner 45 percent. Five percent of those who took part in the survey say they're undecided who they will vote for on November 4.
The margin of error in the Live5 News/Survey USA poll is 4.1 percent.
The poll assumes that 20 percent of likely voters are black. If black turnout is smaller, the Republican wins by a larger margin. If black turnout is larger, the Democrat may outperform these numbers.
Brown leads 3:2 among whites. Ketner leads 7:1 among blacks.
700 registered voters from the district were interviewed October 25 and 26 using Registration Based Sample (RBS) from Aristotle of Washington, DC.
Of the registered voters, 600 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote on or before election day.
Tune in to Live5 News at 7:00 Tuesday for Bill Sharpe's one on one interview with Linda Ketner. Wednesday, Sharpe questions Henry Brown on Live5 News at 7:00.
