When Haley Schmidt isn't doing her homework...she's coming up with t-shirt designs. The nine year-old from Mount Pleasant has been into art since she was 4. She started with sketches, then paintings now t-shirts, all with her own designs.
"Dance shoes because I love to dance. Guitars because I love music. Pretty much anything that comes to mind goes on my t-shirts."
A year and half ago, Haley's mom noticed a drawing her daughter made on the back of a restaurant menu.
"That would be so cute on a little girls t-shirt. And how cute that would that be that a little kid does the designing."
Just fifteen minutes later Haley and her mom came up with Haley Bop t-shirts and bought a website. It's almost two years later and business has been good. The CEO hears from her customers first hand.
"My friends like the t-shirts they are always asking for them and they love all the artwork on them."
HaleyBop started out making just girls clothes but about four months ago they started making shirts for boys as well.
"Boys at my school have always been interested when I tell them that I have my own line. HaleyBop tees is about being yourself expressing who you are and that's what the artwork is about."
