        A person died in a Friday night auto accident in Hattiesburg.  Hattieasburg Police Department responded to a wreck at the intersection of Hardy Street and 19th Avenue. According to officers, four cars collided and a male was transported from the scene by ambulance and later pronounced dead. The cause of the accident has not been determined. The identity of the deceased will be released after the next of kin is notification.  Copyright WDAM 2017. ...

        The Covington County Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 14th annual Christmas in the Park Driving Tour. Drivers can ride through the park watching the light display while enjoying Christmas Music. Christmas in the Park lasts until December 30th, 2017 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only. Operation hours are from 5 pm to 9pm. It’s located at the Bettie D. Robertson Memorial Park in Collins. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

        One year ago, the football teams of Collins and Taylorsville high schools found themselves in unfamiliar positions. The Tartars won only four games, slipping into the Class 2A playoffs only to lose in the first round and log the school’s first losing record in a dozen years. The Tigers, who were coming off consecutive Class 3A state championships, won just two games and were on the sidelines at the end of the regular season.

        According to a report from Little Rock television station KARK, the two correctional officers taken hostage Friday have been released with minor injuries. The station reported that some of the inmates were injured and that some were being transported to area hospitals.
