JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC)- On October 8, Ethan Mack and Heather Kamp were charged with one count of obstruction of justice and one count of forgery.  Kamp told police both she and Mack lied to investigators about what happened the night Kate Waring disappeared.

Public Defender Ashley Pennington, who was representing Mack, says he knew Waring for five years. His neighbors at his mother's home on John's Island told say they saw Waring and Mack together regularly.

Pennington added their relationship was just a friendship.

According to neighbors at his second residence, Mack's relationship with Kamp was significatly different.  Neighbors say another house is owned by Larry Mack, Ethan's father. They say for the past three months Ethan has been living there with Heather Kamp, his girlfriend.

Kamp and Mack were living together in the home on Riley Road on James Island.  On Saturday, the Charleston County Rescue Dive Team was on the same road searching for evidence linked to the Waring case.

Mack does have a minor record which includes a conviction of a misdemeanor marijuana charge and an arrest for possesion of a stolen weapon.  When Mack was arrested last week, he was out on bond on the previous gun charge.
