GREENVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Boeing Company has chosen BE&K Building Group of Greenville to build its second 787 Dreamliner assembly line near the Charleston International Airport in North Charleston.
"Naming a general contractor sets into motion the hiring of potentially 2,000 construction jobs in the Lowcountry that will provide a much needed shot in the arm to our state's employment situation and economy in general," said Gov. Mark Sanford. "More importantly, these jobs are immediate and not tied to incentives."
In October, the state legislature passed an economic incentives package to lure big business to South Carolina. To get the incentives, Boeing must spend $750 million dollars and create 3800 jobs over the next seven years.
