Local NewsGrieving Mothers Find Strength TogetherNicole Johnson, Live 5 NewsThe gathering hit especially close to home for one mom. Four years later it's still hard for Theresa and Bill Bowen. Their 17-year-old daughter Meagan was run over by another teen as she left a Summerville movie theatre one night. "It's not easy it's a struggle everyday and we just have to get through each day," said Theresa Bowen. Theresa quickly learned she wasn't alone, through an online search she found the website dailystrength.org and found a group of women, who also knew the pain of losing a child. "You can't move on. You can't move on, and we're sisters now. It doesn't matter how bad it gets. We're there for each other," said Barbara Smith. Fifteen members of the "For Moms Only" group gathered right on the Charleston Harbor, to share stories, memories, and honor their children. Each mom pinning a rose on a wreath as a symbol. For Theresa Bowen the tribute hits close to home. "She grew up here. We used to go boating on the harbor and I could see the boat going across and I would think about her in it. I looked at the bridge, and I thought what a shame she never got to see our beautiful new bridge," said Theresa. "Our kids brought us together. Our kids brought us together to find each other," said Barbara Smith. Together the moms heal, remembering the young lives cut short, and a love that never dies. For many of the moms, despite several phone conversations and e-mails, they met for the first time this weekend in Charleston. The women say there's also a group for grieving fathers and siblings to help them through their pain. © 2007 WCSC, Inc. All rights reserved.
