Charleston County EMS confirms two small children were thrown from a car on I-26 Eastbound at Ashley Phosphate.

The Sheriff's Office says the three-year-old girl and 18-month-old boy both have life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses say the car seemed to lose a tire, then ran off the road and into some trees.

Deputies found one car seat in the car, and say it's not clear whether the children were properly strapped into child safety seats.

Charges are pending.
