CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -Thirty two year old Dewayne Champaigne is wanted for failure to appear in court on drug charges.
"This guy's looking at seven felony charges, all of which have sentences greater than a year," said Charleston County Detective Reggie Sharpe. "If convicted of the charges, he's likely to serve the rest of his life in prison."
Champaigne was arrested for Distributing Cocaine and Marijuana. Deputies consider him to be dangerous.
"There's no doubt in my mind he knows he's wanted," Sharpe said. "He's actively hiding and people who are scared are apt to do anything."
Cops say Champaigne has quite a criminal record that includes some serious convictions for Kidnapping and Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. He spent 10 years in prison for those convictions. "He obviously doesn't want to go back," said the detective. "Can't say I blame him, but he put himself in that spot."
Deputies would like to wipe the smile of champaigne's face in his mugshot. "He seems pretty happy to be arrested. I think his next arrest, he won't be smiling," warned Sharpe.
Dewayne Champaigne's last known address was on Westmoreland Drive in Summerville. He has a tattoo with the letters M-V-P on his arm. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
