Police search for suspect in Savannah Highway bank robbery

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police are investigating a bank robbery at 834 Savannah Highway, next to the St. Andrews Shopping Center.

According to police, the Ameris Bank was robbed Wednesday afternoon and police are currently searching the area for the suspect. Police say the suspect is a 6 foot tall black male with dreadlocks, a beard and wearing dark pants and a light-colored striped shirt.

Police say the suspect handed the teller a note demanding money. He did not show a weapon or indicate that he was armed to the teller.

Police are asking anyone with knowledge of this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 554-111 or the Charleston Polcie Department at 577-7434.
