Orangeburg police arrest Goose Creek man in internet predator sting

COLUMBIA, SC -  Attorney General Henry McMaster announced today that Zachary M. Hille, 21, of 101 NNPTC Circle in Goose Creek (Charleston Naval Weapons Station) was arrested on June 1, 2009, in an undercover Internet sting conducted by the City of Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.

The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety is a member of the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Hille was arrested on one (1) count of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable to ten (10) years imprisonment and one (1) count of Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable to ten (10) years imprisonment.

Arrest warrants allege that beginning on April 29, 2009, Hille solicited sex on the Internet from an individual he believed to be a thirteen (13) year old girl. In reality, he was communicating with an undercover Orangeburg Police officer.

The U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), also a Task Force partner, assisted with the investigation and execution of a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of a laptop computer, a camera, and other computer-related items.

Hille was assigned a $30,000 bond. A booking photo is available through the City of Orangeburg Municipal Court.

This is the one hundred fifty-ninth (159th) arrest for the Task Force.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
