Coroner says 5 dead in SC car crash

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Four adults and a child have died in a car crash on a South Carolina road.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Tuesday that the five died of trauma after a three-car collision on a road near state Highway 302. He says all those killed in the Monday night crash were in the same vehicle, which had an Alabama license plate.

Authorities think the five are related, but investigators are still trying to contact family members before releasing their names.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m., but Carlton could not give any details on the cause of the accident.

A call to the Highway Patrol was not immediately returned Tuesday.
