SC Patrol: No charges filed in pedestrian death

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol says it won't file charges in the death of the ex-wife of Myrtle Beach Pelicans manager Rocket Wheeler.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported Tuesday that state investigators found the 19-year-old Garden City man driving the car that struck and killed Leigh Ann Wheeler was not speeding. Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins says the patrol is still investigating.

The Pawleys Island woman died May 27 after getting hit on U.S. 17 Business when she was crossing the road to reach a parking lot.
