SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -Twenty three year old Rocarldo Weiters is wanted on charges of Financial Transaction Card Fraud and Financial Identity Theft. Investgators say Weiters stole a debit card from his former friend in December 2006. "We believe he stole this gentleman's identity and credit and made just numerous purchases throughout the Lowcountry," said Summerville Police Capt. Jon Rogers.
Weiters was identified through surveillance tapes. Cops say they got him using the victim's credit card at several different locations. He has a criminal record that includes convictions for strong armed robbery, burglary and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Now cops want him for stealing from his former buddy. Police say the victim was shocked when he saw his bank statement. "If you look at your bank statement, most people don't. That's the truth of the matter," said Capt. Rogers. "They wait a couple of months and then they finally look at it. All of a sudden you start bouncing checks and all that type of stuff, so it can be a horror show."
Weiters also is wanted by the South Carolina Department of Probation and Parole. He has family living in the Goose Creek area. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. You don't have to give your name and can earn a cash reward.
