GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -In 1974 Goose Creek's Edward Guest retired from the Navy and began college at the age of 42. But working six days a week forced him to leave dreams of a college degree behind, until now.
"It's something that I wanted to do and started a long time ago. Now it's time to finish it up."
He finishing it up at the age of 77.
"Some of them thought I was crazy for doing it but others seem to support me quite well."
Edward has five sons, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
"Maybe I can set an example of some of the children and grandchildren and great grandchildren."
He isn't just setting an example. He's inspiring.
"I'm looking now to going back to school myself. I have done a little bit in the past, now I want to finish a degree myself," added his son Eddie.
Always being the oldest one in class isn't easy but Edward's getting used to it.
