Streets reopening after gas leak shuts down parts of downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say streets are starting to reopen after a Friday morning gas leak shut down several intersection in downtown Charleston. Police had shut down streets near Broad Street due to a gas leak that happened as construction crews were digging around 11am Friday.

Police were dispatched to the intersections of Meeting and Broad Streets, King and Broad Streets, Broad and Logan Streets, Meeting and Queen Streets and Broad and Legare Streets.

Homes and businesses in the area were evacuated while SCE&G crews worked to repair the busted gas line.
