NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Police are looking for 28 year old Gregorio Sosa-Canseco. Canseco is wanted on a charge of Assault And Battery With Intent To Kill in connection with the may 5th shooting. "Alcohol and guns don't mix," said North Charleston Police Detective Alan Kramitz.
Investigators say at first, Canseco fired a shot on the front porch that hit a small table. He then allegedly went inside the house and tried to get the shell casing out of the gun. "He was playing with the gun. He pointed it at someone else and pulled the trigger. It didn't go off," Kramitz said.
Police say a drunk Canseco went back to the porch, and that's where things almost turned deadly. "He then pointed the gun at somebody else, the victim and this time a round was fired and the victim was shot in the stomach," said Kramitz. "Mr. Canseco then left the area instead of rendering aid to his friend."
Detectives say most of Canseco's prior offenses are for drinking, but they say if he still has that gun, watch out. Investigators believed Canseco ran off to Mexico, but have new information he's back in the Charleston area. Kramitz says someone may be hiding the fugitive. "There's always a possibility of that. We hope the Hispanic community will come up here and give us information," said the detective. "He's a dangerous person to law enforcement and the citizens at large."
Gregorio Sosa-Canseco may be hiding out in the area of Ashley Phosphate and Stall Roads. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
