Family, friends attend services for helicopter crash victims

GARDEN CITY, S.C. (AP) - Nearly 150 people attended a memorial service for one of the three people killed in a medical helicopter crash along the South Carolina coast.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that family, friends and co-workers attended a one-hour memorial service for 45-year-old pilot Patrick Walters at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City on Wednesday. Services for 39-year-old paramedic Randolph Claxton Dove of Bladenboro, N.C., are scheduled for Thursday.

The family of the third victim, 42-year-old flight nurse Diana Conner of Florence, requested there be no service. Officials are planning a community memorial for the entire crew on Sunday at Coastal Carolina University in Conway.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating last Friday's crash in Georgetown County.
