BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 20-year-old College of Charleston student died when her vehicle hit a tree in the median of I-26 Monday night.

Berkeley County coroner Bill Salisbury identified the woman as Elizabeth Johnson Tuesday morning. Authorities said Johnson was driving eastbound near mile marker 195 shortly after 8:00 pm.

The SUV left the road and skidded into the median, striking a tree, Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the Highway Patrol said.

No one else was in the vehicle with Johnson.
