CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -Charleston Police are looking for 27 year old Ryan Cook. Cook is wanted on a charge of Burglary First Degree in connection with a July 19th break in to a home on Magnolia Road West of the Ashley. "It's just another case where the public has to be alert and protect themselves from things like this," warned Charleston Police Cpl. Fred Bowie.
Investigators say no one was home at the time of the burglary, but if someone was home things could have turned ugly. "In the middle of the night you wake up, you've got a gun close by and you see a shadow there and you shoot," said Cpl. Bowie. "There've been attempts to find out where he's at, bring him into custody. They've been unsuccessful to this point."
But cops say Cook wasn't very smart, and he gave them an easy way to pin the crime on him. "We do know this case was probably solved by forensics," Cpl. Bowie said.
Police say Cook should be considered dangerous. "You're always dealing with a dangerous person that will take the liberty to break into a house," warned Cpl. Bowie.
Ryan Cook stands 5'10" and weighs about 170 pounds. His last known address was on Hartford Circle in North Charleston. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
