Air Force schedules memorial for lost F-16 pilot

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, SC (AP) - The Air Force is holding a memorial service to honor an F-16 pilot killed in a collision with another jet off the South Carolina coast.

An Air Force spokeswoman says the Thursday morning service for Capt. Nicholas Giglio is open to all personnel and their spouses at Shaw Air Force Base. It is closed to the public.

Lt. Col. Lance Kildron, commander of Giglio's 77th Fighter Squadron, is scheduled to address the event. A "missing man" flyover formation of F-16s is also scheduled.

The Air Force has said Giglio was killed in the Oct. 15 incident, which occurred during a nighttime exercise. A second pilot was able to land at Charleston Air Force Base.

An investigation of the incident in underway.
