EDISTO, SC (WIS/WCSC) - A man carrying seven IEDs and a rifle in his car is in the custody of Orangeburg County Sheriff's deputies. The incident unfolded Tuesday morning on Highway 301 in Orangeburg when the New Jersey man, Mark Carron, was pulled over on a traffic stop.

Kerron was also carrying three different licenses.

SLED, ATF and the FBI were called after the incendiary devices were found. Witnesses in the area said they heard the bomb squad detonate several of the devices. Portions of Highway 301 in Orangeburg County were closed and residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Officials said all of the explosives were live and capable of being detonated.

About five miles away, law enforcement officers searched rooms at the Slumberland Hotel. Officials have confirmed that Carron was staying at the hotel.

Charges against Carron are still pending, but officials said he was cooperative during the traffic stop and subsequent detention.

Carron is scheduled to face bond court Wednesday.
