Man attacked over race

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Three men, including a father and son, have admitted attacking a black man at a South Carolina gas station solely because of his race and threatening two white men for helping him.

The U.S. Justice Department announced 49-year-old Thomas Blue Sr., 28-year-old Thomas Blue Jr. and 35-year-old Judson Talbert pleaded guilty Monday to the December 2007 assault and carjacking of Dahndra Moore as he tried to use a restroom in Florence.

The three Florence men admitted the elder Blue forced Moore out of the store, and the younger Blue threatened him with a chainsaw.

Talbert admitted stealing Moore's car, which he and the elder Blue burned. Moore escaped to a local home.

The elder Blue agreed to a 13-year prison sentence. Talbert agreed to nine years and Blue Jr. to three years.
