CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – An accident shut down all westbound lanes on Interstate 26 near Jedburg Road Wednesday night. The woman accused of causing the accident faces DUI charges.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says at about 9 pm Tuesday night, Gaynelle Cuthburtson, 57, of Summerton was driving her pick-up truck the wrong way on I-26 at mile marker 194 near the Jedburg exit. Officials say she hit a tractor trailer head-on.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt, but Cuthburtson was flown to MUSC by Meducare. She is facing charges of DUI and not wearing a seatbelt.

Another collision happened behind this accident that involved two vehicles. All five occupants of the vehicles involved were checked out by EMS and were not taken to the hospital.
