Trident Tech adds aeronautic classes to train potential Boeing employees

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Trident Technical College is adding new classes to teach students interested in aeronautics everything they need to know to get a job at Boeing.

The airplane manufacturer's second plant is being built in North Charleston, next to its first plant.
Trident Technical College, located in North Charleston now has aeronautical courses to prepare people to work on the Dreamliner assembly line.

Boeing expects to hire close to more than 3,000 people to work at the North Charleston facility.
In the spring, Trident will add another aeronautical class, then two more for its fall semester in 2010.

Boeing plans to build three Dreamliners per month. Trident Tech's program started five years ago when Boeing's 787 suppliers came to South Carolina. The school's officials say they've seen a huge increase in people applying, since Boeing broke ground on its second assembly line.
