Police investigating abuse claims against teacher

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Police in South Carolina are investigating allegations that a kindergarten teacher slapped some of her students and put hand sanitizer on their faces and in their mouths.

Bishopville police said Wednesday no arrests have been made, but they are still checking the claims.

Investigators say the teacher also is accused of stepping on children's hands, spanking them and hitting their hands with sticks.

A police report says a teacher's aide witnessed some of the incidents.
