CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- A Charleston Police officer has been charged with driving under the influence. The Highway Patrol says Cpl. Charles Missel was drunk when he hit a parked car in Charleston early Sunday morning and then left the scene.

Missel was arrested Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. Charleston Police officials say Missel has been suspended without pay. A Highway Patrol spokesman says Cpl. Missel was not driving his police issued vehicle at the time of the incident.
