CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A missing dog Charleston County deputies called dangerous and aggressive was found near the owner's home on Santee Road on James Island.

Kay Hyman at the Charleston Animal Society said the Akita's owner decided to take the dog to a rescue facility in Atlanta. Thursday deputies said the dog was on its way to be euthanized when it escaped from its owner's car.

Hyman said the dog was secured and has started the trip to the rescue society.
