CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A private contracting company has been called out to clean up a small chemical spill that sent two people to the hospital Tuesday morning.

Just after 5 a.m. the Hazardous Material Team was sent to Skylark Drive behind CiCi's Pizza in West Ashley. A five gallon bucket with a type of industrial strength cleaning solution inside was found.

The Charleston City Fire Department spokesman Mark Ruppel says two people were walking behind the business when they kicked the bucket and burned by the solution.

Both people were taken to the hospital immediately. One of the victim's was transferred to the Augusta Burn Unit in Georgia.

Ruppel says the cleaning solution does not belong to CiCi's Pizza and an investigation is underway.
