Maritime museum seeking ideas from public

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (AP) - The maritime museum on South Carolina's Charleston Harbor, Patriots Point, is asking the public for ideas for the museum's future.

The Patriots Point Development Authority plans a listening session in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.

There have been a number of ideas suggested for the museum, including the possibility of building a male Statue of Liberty or perhaps reducing the number of ships on display.

The agency last year received a $9 million loan to repair the World War II-era destroyer Laffey. The museum also is home to the aircraft carrier Yorktown.
