MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A school bus driver has been charged in a crash that killed an 18-year-old South Carolina high school student on a motorcycle.
Multiple media outlets reported Tuesday that 77-year-old Michael Joseph Burns has been charged with failing to yield right of way.
The crash happened Nov. 2 as the bus and motorcycle were turning onto the state Highway 31 ramp in Myrtle Beach. Marc Chaplin died at the scene when his motorcycle crashed into Burns' bus. Chaplin was a student at the Academy of Arts, Science and Technology.
There were no students on the bus.
Burns is to appear in traffic court March 3. Horry County School District officials say Burns has been on paid leave since the crash.
