COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man was convicted of distributing crack cocaine and possessing a firearm in federal court Wednesday.
Shontonio L. Witherspoon, 36, was arrested after selling a .38 revolver and crack cocaine to an undercover federal agent. Witherspoon has an extensive criminal record, including six felony drug convictions, which prohibit him from owning a firearm.
The case was investigated by members of the ATF and the North Charleston police department.
Witherspoon will be sentenced at a later date. The maximum penalty he faces is a fine of up to $4 million and life in prison.
