Florence man pleads guilty in doctor-shopping case

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A man accused of obtaining powerful prescription painkillers through fraud and misrepresentation pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday.

Federal agents arrested Larry M. Miller, 61, of Florence, for obtaining the painkillers from six different area doctors between June 2008 and February 2009. Miller obtained Oxycontin, Percocet and Xanax from each doctor without disclosing that he was receiving the same drugs from other doctors.

Miller faces a maximum fine of $250,000 and four years in prison.
